It's all energy:
Your healing starts here.
Two things I know for sure to be true are:
Everything is energy.
We are all healing, because life happens. And life is hard. But, like Glennon Doyle says, “We can do hard things.” And that’s proven true because I am writing this and you are reading it. After all we have been through, we are still here.
Energy Awareness
Okay, so — we are here. We are energy. And we are healing. Every day. We may as well be aware of our energy, know how to take care of it, and tend to our healing.
Everything in the universe is comprised of molecules vibrating at different frequencies. Your body, the chair you’re sitting in, the screen you’re looking at, the food you eat, the words that come out of your mouth — everything — is energy.
Energy Awareness is the awareness we have of the interconnectedness of all the different energies our life. Everything you come into contact with has a vibrational frequency — positive/negative, balanced/unbalanced, open/closed — that you receive. Therefore, it is crucial that you are paying attention to how you show up in the world and to what energy you allow (or don’t allow) in your life. Pay attention to how feel around certain people, places, and things. It’s all affecting you, whether you realize it or not.
How We Heal
The key to keeping our energy field clear and flowing is to check in with it daily. When your energy is clear and flowing, it’s easy to connect to your intuition — your inner knowing. The goal is to keep your energy clear and flowing at all times so that you can stay connected to your intuition so that you know exactly what actions to take in your life to create the life you want.
Healing is a practice, and there are many tools and modalities we can implement. When things happen that affect our energy, they have to be cleared, or else they fog up or block our energy flow and prevent us from the spiritual, intuitive connection we need to stay plugged into to thrive. We heal by recognizing and tending to our energy on a daily basis.
Here are the healing practices I have found most effective in my own life:
Movement: There are many movement modalities to choose from, and all are healing, because when we move our body, we move our energy. Yoga has been the most powerful for me since I found it 15 years ago, due to its mindfulness and breath-focused qualities that invite awareness on all levels — physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and energetic.
Meditation: Getting still and turning inward is one of the most potent ways we can heal ourselves. The answers you seek are already within you. It’s just a matter of listening. Meditation promotes presence, peace, and understanding.
Nature: Look up at the trees. Put your feet in the grass. Listen to the birds sing. The sound of the wind blowing. Toes in the sand. Ocean waves rolling. The view on a mountaintop and how small you feel. Nature reminds us that we are part of something so much bigger than ourselves. It has a way of naturally balancing our energy and bringing us back into alignment with what’s most important.
Journaling: Even just five minutes per day will make a difference. On the journey of personal development, more and more will come up. It needs to come out of you. Put the pen to paper. Healing is processing our emotions and journaling will bring clarity.
Rest: Good sleep is important, but so are restful awake states. I often call this “stare-at-the-wall” time: existing without to-dos, agendas, or expectations of ourselves. Savasana — the final resting posture in a yoga class — is a great example of a restful awake state. Rest is productive because it recharges you to keep going and showing up as your best self.
