Finding balance:

Break your routine.

We got home from DC last night. It was a short trip packed with many beautiful moments… great food, connecting with friends, exploring a new city, feeling patriotic. I even got to see the White House in real life. It’s gorgeous.

The buzz of a big city is quite the experience. People walking everywhere, biking, cars honking, tall buildings with cool doors and lots of staircases to climb. Traveling always helps me remember the possibility of what’s out there. It’s so good to get out of our daily routine and have a new experience in a new place.

Reminders from DC: Never underestimate the healing power of good food shared with great friends over great conversation. Walking is good for the body. Exploring is good for the soul. Meditation can happen anywhere, anytime. It’s okay to feel patriotic, proud to be an American, and disagree with politics all at the same time. Rainbows are happy. Love who you love. America is beautiful. People are beautiful. It’s all a matter of perspective. The more we pause and turn inward to appreciate our own beauty and uniqueness, the more we appreciate it outside of ourselves.

This summer, I hope you find balance in the day to day by getting out to explore. What does balance mean to you? How are you creating harmony amongst all aspects of your life, from work to relationships to health to things you enjoy?

Celebrate. Slow down. Break your routine. Get out and give yourself a new experience this week. Let it bring you a fresh perspective, or at least a few good reminders of what’s most important to you.
