Finding freedom within structure:
It's an inside job.
Structures are part of life. We exist within them.
Society is a structure. Your work environment is a structure. Your home is a structure. Your body… a structure.
It can be easy to feel confined to (and limited within) these structures if we don’t practice experiencing freedom within them. Exploring them. Expanding within them. Feeling free within them.
Freedom is not given to us by anyone. We have to cultivate it ourselves.
Yoga postures are structures. Your mat is a great place to explore freedom within them — freedom to explore your inner landscape, which is vast, expansive and limitless.
As we practice expanding and freeing ourselves on the mat, we do so also in life. We can teach ourselves how to be free in the world, regardless of whatever structures may feel confining on the outside… because freedom is a state of mind. It’s how you’re cultivating your attitude, perspective, and outlook on life that will determine how you experience things — it’s an inside job. This is the inner work that facilitates growth, healing, and transformation.
This week, both on and off your mat, I invite you to explore what freedom looks like to you — within your body, your yoga postures, your work and home life, and society in general.
Remember that you are pure energy and that your essence is limitless. The only confines you feel are the ones you allow.
I filmed some new yoga flows last week at The Studio and I’m excited to share one with you today. It’s called Morning Activation Flow, and it’s 24 minutes of goodness to start your day from a space of feeling free, grounded, and connected.
