How to move through fear?
Make it RAIN.
I’ve been going through a big shift with my work lately, and fear has come up. Which is not surprising. What to do when we encounter fear? Let’s explore that today.
After eight years of running my brand and web design business and almost four years of owning The Studio, I’ve reached a space of crystal clear clarity — the kind we all dream about. I’ve experienced a lot of frustration over the past couple of years juggling both of these businesses (and being a mom). Becoming a certified life coach in 2022 threw another thing in the mix. Something new that felt more aligned than ever. I started feeling really spread thin and like I needed to choose one thing and really grow it, pour my heart into it. This continued to come up for me, especially this past year. I kept returning to my mat. I kept listening. And it kept coming up.
When my partner and I got home from California about a month ago, that crystal clear clarity arrived. Maybe it was the Redwoods, maybe it was being stripped of my responsibilities for a few days, maybe a little bit of both. Anyway, I even have a purpose statement now — it just came to me one day. It is to help people heal and reclaim their power through the practice of yoga.
Yep, yoga. It always comes back to it. But not just the physical practice (which is what drew me in initially). The lifestyle. Yoga in all the ways. The physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, energetic. It’s about connection. Awareness. Living in alignment. Consciously creating our lives. My purpose work involves all of it. And I’m ready to dive in and invest all of my energy into it. This means closing the doors on my design work, continuing to build my coaching practice, yoga trainings and programs, and expanding The Studio.
Clarity is sweet. And the next step is action. And it’s the unknown. So, fear is natural.
Don’t get me wrong, I feel excited — and so incredibly grateful — most of the time. I know what I am supposed to be doing. I’m creating the life I want and helping others do the same. But, it’s the unknown. And that can be scary, because, well… it’s the unknown.
This week’s practice is a technique I like to use for moving through challenging emotions, like fear.
